Keira Knightley - get her look

Keira Knightley

A regular on the best dressed lists, the endearingly humble Pirates of the Caribbean star and face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, Keira Knightley never fails to impress us with her fashion credentials. A darling of big name designers like Valentino and Vera Wang, Keira's ultra-feminine alter-ego shines at film premieres and awards ceremonies and she favours revealing body-con, figure-hugging numbers that show off her slender physique. On her days off, our favourite English rose opts for a mix of tomboyish, simple mod-chic and nu-boho casual; skinny jeans and boots combos, stripy tops, comfy sweaters and relaxed smock dresses. We take a leaf out of Keira's style file and show you how to steal her look.

Forties heroine

Forties Heroine
With a nod to several of Autumn/Winter's biggest trends, Keira smoulders in this tight-fitting plaid '40s-inspired dress. Checks and belts are big news this season so invest in an A-line dress to get you through the season. The New Look Dior shape is the antidote to the exaggerated tulip silhouette, so make like Keira and squeeze into a clingy pencil skirt. A 3/4 length sleeve blouse, either in crisp white or classic polka dots is essential and looks just as good with casual jeans. The pinched-in wasp waist is a must but if your tummy is not as flat as keira's, a wide, black patent belt will excuse a multitude of gym visits. Sophisticated long gloves are the epitome of '40s elegance and featured in almost every collection. High court shoes and a structured Paddington handbag add the finishing touches to this most ladylike of looks.

Purple princess

It is the colour to be seen in this Autumn/Winter and Keira is magnificent in this rich aubergine empire line gown by Matthew Willamson. Whatever you do this season, make sure you purchase something purple-hued. Short rain macs look fabulous with the minis that are everywhere right now and a structured deep plum trench will see you through those autumnal showers in style. If you want to go more subtle with this most regal of colours, a suitably-tinted pair of bowed heels or scarf will add a discreet, fashion-forward touch.

Beatnik babe

Beatnik Babe
Keira still manages to look exquisite even during her more casual moments. A big fan of beatnik cool, her easy, uncomplicated style off the red carpet is refreshingly laid back. Keira works this season's mod-chic influences with panache, drawing inspiration from the early '60s. Layering a short-sleeved jersey over a timeless grey marl striped long-sleeve T , she completes the look with a trusty pair of black skinny jeans and statement brown boots . Add some oomph to this outfit with an oversized zebra print bag and don't forget your classic French Resistance-style beret , a must for those cooler autumn days.
