Kate Nash - get her look
Harrow girl Kate Nash exploded onto the UK music scene over the summer with a double whammy; number one in both the album and music charts. With her catchy indie-pop melodies, tongue-firmly-in-cheek nu-folk storytelling lyrics delivered in that attitude-heavy norf London accent, Nash is the music success story of 2007, scraping her way to the top with natural talent, sheer determination and a whole lot of help from her huge internet fan base.
Combining grandma-cool with kooky vintage chic, Kate has created a look all of her own; the refreshing, down-to-earth antidote to those over-coiffed, over-manicured, styled-to-within-an-inch-of-their-lives girl band dollies. Bright, block colours, pretty, patterned '50s and '60s dresses, sensible but sexy shoes and whimsical accessories all feature heavily in Kate's wardrobe. We've given it the once over and give you the lowdown on how to fleece 'er fashion.
Flower vintage girl
Kate is in her element at a festival, and she harks back to The Summer of Love in this pretty, just-so-slightly psychedelic vintage floral number. Tune into her relaxed hippy vibe with this on-trend floral maxi dress . It looks like Kate has pinched pal Lily Allen's chav-chic style with this heart pendant very this-season-street-cool, but it may be an idea to pass on the sovereign ring and creoles. A cute daisy handbag is just the sort of thing Kate would carry about and teamed with a pair of pretty but plain black pumps , this is one the most chilled looks around.
Too-Cool-for-School Mistress
Pleats never looked so hot and Kate gives prissy head teacher garb a new lease of life in this beige belted dress. Show off those hips with this ever-so-ladylike black skirt and match it with a prudish white shirt . A pair of wedge camel sandals worn with clashing black tights give a little hint of subversive to this most prim and proper of looks, as does this achingly fashion-forward patent bag .
Block Colour Babe
Kate gives this season's block brights - which feature heavily in most of the designer collections from Prada to Paul Smith - a uniquely quirky touch with this canary yellow shift and tights ensemble. A lemon tunic, is perfect for those Indian summer-like days but if you want to bring it down a tone or two and go for something warmer, opt for one of this autumn's more mellow hues with a sweater dress in mustard. These '60s-inspired winter lovelies - a red collarless coat and cornflower tulip mac would have Kate reaching for her vintage purse and a burnt orange bag would definitely find itself over our favourite singer-songwriter's shoulder.
